YoLink Motion Sensor

The YoLink Motion Sensor (YS7804) is a LoRa-powered indoor PIR (Passive Infrared) motion detector designed for home security and automation. Operating on the 900MHz LoRa band, it achieves up to 1/4 mile (1,320 feet) open-air range—far exceeding typical Zigbee, Z-Wave, or WiFi motion sensors.

The sensor detects human movement by sensing temperature changes in the surrounding environment. Detection range varies by mounting position: ceiling-mounted sensors detect 3-4 feet when walking toward the sensor and 4-8 feet when walking across (at 68°F ambient temperature). Wall mounting at approximately 5 feet height is recommended for optimal coverage.

Three sensitivity levels (High, Medium, Low) are adjustable via the YoLink app. High sensitivity may cause false alerts in some environments—switch to Low if experiencing issues. Sensitivity changes take effect on the next detection event or can be applied immediately by pressing the SET button.

The "Alert Hold" feature prevents notification spam by suppressing repeat alerts during configurable time windows. This is useful for high-traffic areas where constant alerts would be overwhelming.

Battery life exceeds 2 years using standard AAA alkaline batteries—no special batteries required. Low-battery alerts provide advance warning before replacement is needed. The sensor requires a YoLink Hub (sold separately or in starter kits) for connectivity.

The YoLink Motion Sensor works with Amazon Alexa for voice announcements and routines, and IFTTT for advanced automation with 900+ connected apps. Google Assistant is NOT supported due to Google's motion sensor feature limitations. Home Assistant integration is available through the native YoLink integration via MQTT.
