The Govee WiFi Thermometer Hygrometer H5179 is a smart temperature and humidity monitor equipped with a Swiss-made SHT30 sensor for precise readings. It offers dual connectivity via 2.4GHz WiFi and Bluetooth for flexible remote monitoring through the Govee Home app.
With temperature accuracy of ±0.54°F (±0.3°C) and humidity accuracy of ±3% RH, the sensor refreshes readings every 2 seconds for real-time updates. The compact design includes a built-in display showing current temperature and humidity levels.
Key features include customizable alert thresholds—set preset temperature and humidity ranges and receive instant app notifications when levels fall outside your defined parameters. This makes it ideal for monitoring wine cellars, cigar humidors, greenhouses, server rooms, reptile enclosures, and baby rooms.
Data storage is a strong point: the device offers 20 days of online cloud storage with the ability to view clear historical trends and graphs. You can export up to 2 years of data to CSV format via email for detailed analysis. The working range spans -20°C to 60°C (14°F to 140°F) for temperature and 0-99% for relative humidity.
The H5179 works with Amazon Alexa for voice-controlled temperature readings but does NOT support Apple HomeKit or Google Home natively. Home Assistant integration is available through the official Govee Bluetooth integration (introduced in HA 2022.8), which automatically discovers the device via BLE.
Powered by 3 AA batteries (included), the sensor offers months of operation. Package includes 2 sensors with lanyard loops for easy hanging. Note: 5GHz WiFi networks are not supported—only 2.4GHz.
Common issues reported include occasional WiFi disconnections, humidity readings showing "unavailable" in some Google Home setups (decimal value bug), and sensors stopping data updates requiring battery reset.
